How I am encouraging my kids to eat healthy despite all the junk foods out there

In our times now, it is not easy (at least for me in the beginning) to control my kid's junk foods intake.  I for one is not the perfect example to my kids when it comes to eating healthy coz they see me eat a LOT of chocolates lol. Since they were little (still they are 8 & 3) I always make sure that before they have something sweet to eat that they have to eat something healthy first. They can either eat some fruits or veggies or cheese then they can have it. The first week is not easy coz they will often not accept the "deal" BUT they know that their ONLY choice is have this before that so really they dont have other choice. I am very firm on my words so they know that even if they cry so hard they wont get it. I think most of the time, our problem is we "gave in" to what they want and that becomes a problem in the end.

It also helps that they are part of the decision when you go shopping for the treats or desserts. We are a big fan of desserts. We have them after a meal and I think that helps a lot to encourage them to eat their meal because they know they will get something delicious after. Also, I avoid buying other junk foods at home (it is mostly dark chocolates, chocolates with fruits/nuts on it, popcorn and potato chips - the later 2 we mostly eat every Friday evening on movie night). I feel the less they see it, the less they are tempted to eat it.

Gardening is another great way to encourage your kids eat different fruits and veggies. If they know they planted, take care and harvest it - they are more likely to at least try to taste/eat them. Both my kids enjoy eating veggies from our garden (though not salad) so that makes me really happy.

Visiting farmers market or a farm is a great help too. I think the more they know the better their understanding is when it comes to food choices as well as decisions they make in their lives.

It may seem very hard in the beginning to change such habit BUT dont give up. Introduce it little by little and make it fun or firm on your part. Also, bear in mind that forcing a certain food will make it worst (learned it from experience) so you are better let them pick one and see how it goes and then introduce another one after.

How about you? How are you encouraging your kids for healthy habits? Would love to hear from you and learn too.

Thanks for being here!

Why I decided to decrease my use of Social Media on 2018

It's 2018 and I am getting burned out with my social medias. I know I can get a lot of free stuff, win some stuff, get to know others, see inspirational quotes and other stuff BUT I feel like the more I use it - the more I end up feeling empty inside or letting down my love ones specially my kids. This year I decided to give my TIME (or at least more of it to them). I questioned myself if I do really NEED this and that OR if they are just adding to STUFF that later on will be tossed away and not add value to my well being or to my love ones.

Before the year 2017 end, I read this open letter from a dying person online. She said how much she misses so many experience and how much she wishes that she have more TIME to do and be with the people/animals she would love to spend her time with. I realized then that TIME and LOVE ONES are the ones we all take for granted for. I dont want to be on my last day and be remembered in a way I wish they dont or wish that I have more time to be with them. So this year and for the years to come, my goal is to spend time with them specially my kids. They are growing way too fast that one day I wont be able to get those hugs and kisses and their time anymore, I want to be in the moment - THEIR MOMENT! I honestly feel more full and satisfied knowing at the end of the day I did something worthwhile and made more memories with them.

This year... I am not planning to lose weight, buy this or that, or any other goals that dont really mean anything in the end for ME (i said ME coz I know others will say that their goals is as important as mine so I am just talking about my goals)

How about you? Any changes this year? How are you balancing life and happiness - real happiness (the kind that will last more than a lifetime)

Would love to hear from you and thank you for being here.

It’s Arri’s Playtime TV - Review Imaginarium Metro Line Train Table Exclusively Sold At Toys’R’Us

My youngest really love trains and last Christmas we decided to give him this exclusive Imaginarium Metro Line Train Table only available at @ToysRUs

Both of my kids really love it. Building t requires time. I am not a fan of following and figuring things out (lol) so this took me quite sometime. Building the train table is a lot easier coz they label everything (it is almost like building an Ikea furniture) BUT putting the train track is a pain. It is not labeled so I have to scoured piece by piece just to figure out AND yes in the end I gave up and ask hubby to finish it for me. I have to say it gets frustrating when you have a 3yo who will try to "help" building his toy. So if you want to build one, make sure it is just YOU to avoid extra time building it.

In the end we really like it. I think it is worth the price compare to other train table sets we saw. It is well built and will really encourage your little one's imagination.

We give it 4.5 stars. It is almost perfect if only they label the tracks like they did on the other parts.

Let us know your thoughts if you have a chance. Thanks for being here!

How-To maximize your Tax Credit and deductions and get the biggest refund for your 2017 Tax Return

Tax season is here and most of the time we miss the opportunity to maximize the tax credit we can get just because we forgot about them. If you are about to file your tax make sure you read this and take advantage of this deductions if you can.

  1. Remember to deduct the Tax preparation Fees. Whether you use a professional person or online tools, make sure you add this to your deduction.
  2. Retirement savings contributions credit and Saver's credit - If you put aside money for this (i.e. 401K, IRA)  then you shouldn't pay taxes for whatever you contribute. Make your records ready so it's easy to find them when you are ready to file your taxes.
  3. Head of household credit - If you are a single parent don't file under Single, instead file as a head of Household to maximize your deductions.
  4. Moving Expenses - If you move for work then you can deduct this. Just make sure you move at least 50 miles from your previous address.
  5. Driving miles - If you own a business and drive for work using your car then you can deduct the miles you use when you do business for the whole year.
  6. Home space credit - if you are working from home, you can add the space you are using in your home as your office space. It is not a lot of deduction but still you can add this when you file your tax.
  7. Earned Income tax credit (read more about this here)
  8. Dependent care credit. If you have a child and or elderly living with you for at least 6 months and you take care of them then you can get a credit for this.
  9. Learning Credits - If you are studying or have a kid/spouse who is studying, then you can be qualify for a deductions.
  10. Car Registration fee credit - Dont toss that paper every time you register your car coz you can earn a credit from it too.
  11. Energy efficient credit - did you fix your house for a more energy efficient roof or window or whatever you do did, make sure you save your receipts and ask for a credit.
  12. Donation credit - if you donate every year, dont toss the paper they give you coz you can use it to deduct taxes as well.
Remember to file your taxes by April 18, 2018 and hope you get the biggest refund possible this year!
