Why I love Hormel Gatherings Party Tray specially this holiday and game day season #Review

disclaimer:
I received FREE product in exchange for my honest review

With all the holiday gatherings and preparations (in if you love game day this one is for you too) it is not easy to find the correct product to use to make hosting a party a breeze.

With my 3yo son always wanting attention - I am in the verge of losing my sanity of how I can make party planning work. Luckily, I found an easy way to serve appetizer with the help of Hormel Gatherings Party tray - they are ready-made, stress free answer to my party planning and YES they are delicious.

A quick trip to your fave store will do the trick (in our case I was in a hurry and my 3yo is whining so I stop by at Walmart coz it is just almost next to us) Look for them at the deli aisle.

As a busy mom and wife. I really like the fact that Hormel Gatherings Party tray is ready-made appetizer. We decided to have ours serve on friendsgiving in our favorite park. I just need this, some paper plates, a few forks for serving and drinks for adults and kids (less headache for this momma!)

I love that even my picky eater kids can enjoy it too. The cheese taste really good and they have this fresh cheese taste. I got the Hormel Gatherings Supreme party tray to serve, it comes with HORMEL Hard Salami, HORMEL Genoa Salami, Sargento Pepper Jack Cheese, Sargento Havarti Cheese, Round Crackers, and Peloponnese Pitted Olives.

The only thing I dont like about HORMEL GATHERINGS SUPREME tray is that you can only pick from 2 kinds of Salami. I would rather see a mixture of Salami, Ham and Turkey slices than just hard kinds of Salamis since it is the supreme Tray. I didnt get a problem with the olives not having it's own lid since we finished them BUT it will be really nice if it has it's own lid to keep away in case it was not finished after the party. It will also be nice to see more than one option for a supreme party coz the price difference from a Supreme Tray and the Simple Party Tray is $3. Maybe next year they will offer more :)

I received 2 other coupons that I am now sharing with 2 elder friends that we know. One enjoy attending pot lucks and the other have back problem so moving around to make food for him and his mom this holiday season is not easy. I figure the Hormel Gatherings Party tray will be a great gift for them so they dont have to worry about cooking and or thinking what to bring with their family and friends. I dont need to wrap it, just add a bow and a card and it is ready to gift. Yay! Another stress free party planning that I can gift as well.

If you are like me (busy and keeping sanity intact lol) this is definitely an answer to your hectic schedule. It is a great gift that keeps on giving (you can even pair your gift with your fave wine or drinks to complete it).

Cheese Pimiento Spread #RECIPE

With all the holidays on our way, I know it is not easy to find all the budget to gift family and friends. This year I opt to give something I made to show my love and appreciation to them. With our tight budget this year I find that hand made (home made) are something that will save my pocket without forgetting my love ones.

Last ThanksGiving I have been making this Cheese Pimiento Spread to give to family and friends. I have a few request on how I made mine so I am sharing it with you today. I decided to make my own because I got tired buying my mom this Cheese Pimiento Spread in the store - it is pricey and I hate the taste. I told her that I will make her my version and since then, this recipe has been used and gave away so many times :)

This is such an easy recipe and it only requires 4 ingredients BUT the taste is really good!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup shredded cheese - I like to use the Colby & Monterey Jack Cheese (pictured below) but you can use your preferred kind of cheese.
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped cooked pimientos (directions below) or you can buy a 4 oz sliced pimientos (details below)
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped pickled jalapenos (optional +/- depends on your taste)
  • salt to taste

PROCEDURE:

  • Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix. That's it! how simple is that! If you are gifting this to someone, I like the idea of buying mason jars or decorated container and place a card or bow on top of it.

Note:

I used to buy the Goya Sliced Pimientos in the store (you can find it in the international aisle or where pickled jalapenos aisle is) but got tired spending $2+ on a small bottle. Since our store always have a great sale for red bell peppers (98 cents per piece) and sometimes I get really lucky and can buy them on the 99 cents produce aisle (check out my previous post on why i love checking this aisle) where it is 3+ pieces of bell peppers for 99 cents WOW! The 4 oz goya is only good for 1 recipe above but one whole red bell pepper is good for  making 2 of this recipe so you can imagine why I'd rather make my own ( compared my expense to 98 cents or $4)

Here's the procedure:

  • Wash your red bell pepper and cut it in slices. As You can see I like to save the seeds so I can plant it in our garden. Just dry them and store them in a dark place if you are not yet planting it. They are very easy to grow and we can harvest a lot after a few months.

  • Place them in a pot, sprinkle a dash of salt and 2 tbsp of water. Let them cook for 20 minutes so you can peel them really easy after. I like to cook it high for 10 minutes and then mix it and then simmer for another 10 minutes - add another tablespoon of water if needed (longer if you are having a hard time peeling it).

  • Wait 10 minutes or until cool to touch and then peel the skin. Make sure you drain it so your Cheese Pimiento Spread wont end up runny. I used a paper towel to drain mine and it works great.

  • Once drained, chopped it finely and they are now ready to use! I know it looks like a lot of work but after you do it a few times it gets easier. I also like the fresher taste of it compared to the store bought one and if you like gardening you can harvest your own red bell peppers and use it this way.
I hope I get to help you give an idea on what to share this holiday. I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks for being here!

ps.
I am sharing this recipe recipe to my mom-in-law right now - Love you mom!

Happy 3rd birthday to my little silly boy!!!

I still cant believe that this boy is 3yo today! How time flies! I still can remember the day I found out I was pregnant, I am overwhelmed with excitement and fear. Excited coz we waited for almost 3yrs to have another baby after my miscarriage (that's where my fear comes from - I think after that very sad day knowing I loss my baby my life was never the same).

Since I was pregnant with him, my life is sure full of adventures.
Every week I have to have a butt shot to make sure this little one will not arrive as early as his brother. Then on my 9th month of pregnancy I had a pulse alarm of  him getting ready to come out. When it's time for him to arrive I have to go through 32 hours of labor with no food other than liquid. I have C-section on my 1st & I told my OB that I would like to have a normal delivery this time. They told me that there is still a possibility that I will have to have a C-section so I have to make sure I am ready for the option = therefore NO FOOD!!! Who says delivering baby empty stomach is easy, it is NOT! All I can think of is seeing my baby soon & what will be my meal after haha!

Then we have to stay in the hospital 2 days after he was born coz we found out he have jaundice coz our blood type is different. I remember driving to the doctor the next day after I gave birth coz hubby was out of town for emergency work. Our dear neighbor then told me I am crazy for not asking her help coz I shouldn't be driving right after the fact that I just gave birth - I never though of that! I just know that I need to do what I need to do to make sure my baby is fine.

Anyway, those are just FEW of our adventures in just almost 4yrs (counting my pregnancy haha) This kid never gets tired, never a dull moment, always have something new for me to YELL at and new experience to enjoy or get frustrated to.

He loves outdoors as much as I do, and always barefoot (YES you read that right! and I really dont care what most people think coz I myself prefers to be barefoot whenever I can - it just feels good to feel everything on my feet so why not enjoy it!)

He always says he is ready for an adventure! Everyday is an adventure, whether it is a bike ride, raking leaves, picking rocks - ANYTHING!!! I wish I see life like this - good or bad - it is all part of an adventure and we all have to enjoy it with all our heart and soul!

He have taught me that life is not about worrying and getting afraid of something - it's all about LET's DO IT and see what we can learn! It's amazing what a 3 year old can teach us!

It maybe a lot of screaming, crying, yelling, chasing, laughing or whatever he decided to throw me that day or night - I will NEVER trade it for the life and experience I have and will have!

Love you my sunshine!
mom

How to survive after a job loss (loss a job? what to do)

I was chatting with someone on twitter 2 days ago and she said her husband just loss his job and it brings back that memory where my husband loss his job the day after his birthday. It's been almost 4yrs but the effect of it can still be felt on our every day decisions in life specially when it comes to financial matters. I remember it so well when my husband called me Wednesday morning (10am) I am in the library with my then 3yo son, he was very calm when he told me that he just loss his job and he is on his way home. I thought it was a joke because he never told me that he is having a problem at work and we just celebrated his birthday that "yesterday". No sign, no nothing - just like that our life was shaken in a way that we dont know how to handle.

I am not sure how I manage to drive home crying knowing (or not knowing) what will happen next. We dont have savings, no fund for emergency like this, have mortgage and cars to pay - the list goes on and on. My mind is everywhere and I told myself I needed to be strong so my husband dont have to shoulder all the worries because I feel if I am strong then he can get some from me.

If you just loss a job or someone in your family did. I hope this list helps you even for a little bit. I know it is not very easy BUT if we have manage it (just like others) I know YOU CAN too.

So here's what I did (I have to figure it out because my husband is still in state of shock & I needed a quick answer for us to survive)

  • I made a list of things we can give up
  1. extra car (we clean it the next day and sell it at carmax) - this lower car payment, insurance and property tax. This decision needs to be weigh in. In our case we have 2 cars because we live in Rural area and there is no public transportation and we can use bike to go places like looking for a job. A car is a must - also we cant always knock on our neighbor's door to give us a lift right? It is a lot easier if you live in the city and public transportation is available or the jobs you are applying for are either walking distance or a close bike ride then you can get rid of your only car to save some $$$
  2. disconnect phones (I called Sprint at that time telling them what happened though they are not a huge help I manage to lower our bill and pay off the year left contract instead of paying $150/mo. I then use Tracfone service the lowest I can get (they have the flip phone that allows you free triple minutes. We need at least one phone for my husband's job hunting.
  3. lower the mbps of our internet. I called time warner & they understand what happened and give us the lowest possible internet service as we needed that to look for jobs and help.
  4. look for items in the house that we can list for sale through ebay, craigslist or garage sale
  • review and make a nice resume and work letter to use for applications (if unsure look online for a samples to use to help you build it - make sure that resume is not more than 2 page)
  • search online for housing help (if you have a house payment this will help you tremendously with mortgage payment just search *state name* Home protection program and loan fund)
  • Call your mortgage, apartment and credit card hotline (it is always helpful if you can let them know the situation and they can help you in anyway possible. PLEASE be courteous and try to level the tone of your voice - the more polite you are the better help you can get! A nice and polite tone can help you more than you can imagine)
  • search online for your state's assistance program
  • Go to your county's unemployment center. Every state is different, make sure you see if you are eligible for unemployment benefits and make sure you check the wall for all the help/fliers you can get to figure out what else is out there.
  • Go to your county's Social Service Center. I know a lot dont want to do this because that means you are asking for help in food, housing, bills and even health (medications and health insurance). I told my husband that "PRIDE" is not important at this time because we have a son and we need help. If you are paying your tax every year then you are entitle for this help. They are also very helpful on directing you on where to go to ask for help and they are very understanding of the situation. Again, personality makes a huge difference on how to handle situation like this - I know it is not easy to stay calm & be patient BUT it is NEEDED!
  • Locate your WIC (Women, Infants and Children) office - if you are pregnant (up to 6wks after the birth of an infant or the end of the pregnancy) - if you just gave birth (postpartum - up to 6 months after the birth of the infant or the end of the pregnancy) - breastfeeding (until your baby turns 1yo) -  if you have a baby up to the 1st birthday AND OR Child/Children up to it's 5th birthday. You can get more info here
  • If interested, you can also get FREE education while looking for a job - go to your community school and find out what they offer for those who just loss a job. In our case I am the one who got the benefit. I got a FREE course while hubby is looking for a job.
  • Get a part-time job - In our case hubby have a managerial position and it is not easy for him to find a quick job to support the family asap SO I go get a part time job (cashier) while I am attending school at the same time. Little things adds up when you dont know when to get your next pay check. I dont care what kind of job I landed for as long as I am earning and we are not starving. I know there are people who dont want to take a lower position or a certain area BUT think about it as better than NOTHING case. Those people who will judge you will NOT feed you so forget what other's will say!
  • Analyze yourself of things you can do - can you walk a dog, clean house, fix garage, fix a computer, help with resume, design a webpage or apps. Make a list on Craigslist, ask friends and family, church, put a note on stores, gas station, and even houses on things you can do while you are looking for a job. You never know it might be the one that will give you the freedom and the financial stability that you are looking for without being tied with an employer and be your OWN boss!
  • Use social network to connect with friends and family that you are looking for a job - I know it is tough to let others know you loss a job BUT like i said in tough times like this you dont need a PRIDE to feel sorry or think what others will say. As long as you are doing everything RIGHT and not hurting anybody then you do whatever will help you and your family. Social Networks are very helpful, those people you have on your list may not have the job for you BUT they might know someone who can help so take advantage of that.
  • Look for jobs online even the contractual ones or the ones that require you to travel or be in a different location - another situation that is hard to do BUT it is a lot easier to find a job when you have a job than being out of job.
  • Volunteer - volunteering is great if you can do it. You can met new people, company (and they might hire you and know someone who can hire you) It also helps you realize that you are not the only person having a hard time at the moment because there are others who might be struggling worst than you do.
  • Start budgeting your expenses specially for groceries - In our case we are 4 in the family & I make sure that we only spend $50/wk. This makes wonders on how much you can stretch your money because you know exactly what you can spend & be aware of what & what you dont need. I have to say that even now that hubby got a job and I am back to being a full time mom I am still following the rule of $50/wk as much as I can. You can check my previous post on "How I manage to budget $50 per week on groceries" here
  • Join twitter parties, twitter or facebook or instagram giveaways - this have help us a lot too. Some  prizes may not be useful for you BUT you can always sell it and use the money as part of your budget
  • Stay POSITIVE - I always believe in the power of a positive mind! A quitter never wins and the only way you can conquer the negativity is with positivity.
I will update this list when I remember the other stuff that helps us and also if you have anything to suggest that helps you. We also won't survive those days without my mother-in-laws, mother and my friend Dianne's constant help - definitely the air beneath our wings at that time and until now. I always tell hubby that when we ever got lucky winning the lottery we will make sure we changed their lives too in the best way they can imagine. Treasure your friends and family specially when they are there through thick or thin because they are rare - VERY RARE! If you happen to read this I want you to know that I am forever grateful with all the help you showered us and always in my mind what I can do to help back when we can.

Thank you for being here and again, stay strong - keep smiling despite the fact that your heart is crying coz things will turn around and you will see the rainbow or a new door opening in the end of your journey!

Take care!

How to organize your kids clothes on the drawer the easier way

As a mom and wife, one problem I face in the day is the never ending refolding of their clothes. For some reason they always find ways unfolding or rearranging everything and it is driving me crazy. So today, I am trying this way of organizing their clothes and see if it will help me and gives me back my sanity.

I know it needed extra work folding them BUT believe me it will save you MORE time in the long run coz you dont have to refold them all the time. This is also perfect when you are packing for vacation, work, camping or whatever time you needed to pack clothes 😊

This have saved me headaches whenever we go for camping coz they can easily find the clothes they wanted and they dont need to dig for the "ONE", it also makes me feel good that some how I am organize even when it comes to their clothes (believe me I struggle about parenting every day and just like you I wonder if I am good enough or If I am doing the right thing - so dont worry you are not alone because I am a proof that my life is as messy as yours)

Would love hear your thoughts and other ideas to help me get organize in any way possible!

Thanks for being here!

Where to watch FREE anime shows online (Where to watch Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and Naruto Shippuden online or Dragon Ball Z)

I have to say that despite my "old" age lol, I still love watching anime shows. One of my favorite is Naruto and the Naruto Shippuden shows and now I am addicted to watching Boruto: Naruto Next Generation shows.

Me and my 8yo son (sometimes even my almost 3yo son) loves watching this two shows (he also like Dragon Ball Z like I did) we will chat for hours with what had happened in a certain episode or compare characters and I have to say I feel much closer to him coz we can both relate to each other and my son really appreciates it. His smile and laughters every time we talk makes my heart melts.

After so many searching I finally found a place where we can watch our favorite Anime Shows for FREE beside youtube of course.

Check it out here and you may also find some anime shows that you might like. Also they have the shows almost as soon as Japan aired it so it is really good.

Parenting... and all the worries that goes with it!

With all the horrible news I have been reading and seeing lately, it makes me feel uneasy every time I send my son to school or us being outside. Now that I'm a parent, I always worry about my kids specially when I am not there to protect them. It breaks my heart every time I hear a news because I cannot imagine the pain and the life long misery after that. I always try to remind myself that we should always give our best of love, affection and time to those that matters to us coz we never know how long our time or their time is. I tried to be in the moment and be less distracted with what's surrounds me and be with them completely. I love social networks and all the technology that we have now BUT I feel it is dividing us specially as a family.

I am learning to disconnect little by little and give more quality time to my love ones because MY TIME is the best gift that I can give to them that they can treasure forever.
